Sacks Spiral - Minimal - Black edition
The Sacks Spiral - Minimal - Black Edition print from the Signature Collection offers a striking visualisation of prime numbers mapped through an innovative spiral geometry. It arranges the numbers from 1 to 250,000 using the Sacks spiral method, where each point is positioned according to polar coordinates derived from Sacks’ formula. The result is a sweeping, organic form in which prime numbers - 22,044 out of 250,000 plotted (8.82%) - stand out as luminous markers amid arcs and clusters of composite numbers.
This elegant mapping, introduced by mathematician Robert Sacks, transforms the linear number sequence into a spatial structure where relationships between primes become visible. The visualisation reveals 2,588 twin-prime pairs and a largest prime gap of 86, capturing the balance between distribution, density, and apparent randomness.
In this sense, the Sacks spiral acts as a periodic table of the integers - a tool for perceiving order within the infinite. Patterns emerge that hint at deep symmetries and unexpected regularities in the primes, inviting exploration of how mathematical structure and visual form intersect.
Produced as an open-edition print on deep matte giclée, with white-on-black rendering that emphasises the spiral's elegant curves. Supplied pre-framed to protect the delicate surface. Perfect for mathematicians, number theory enthusiasts, or anyone fascinated by the hidden structures within prime numbers.
Signature Series
The Signature series forms the core of Axisophy — a series of mathematical visualisations and scientific infographics that reveal the structures underlying our world.
From geometry and number theory to astronomy, geology, and evolutionary biology, each design transforms data and theory into elegant visual form.
These works celebrate the shared language of science and design: clarity, proportion, and order made visible.
Black edition
Our Black edition prints use a deep matte giclée surface that produces exceptional depth and richness of tone, but this finish is delicate and easily marked.
For that reason, Black edition prints are only available pre-framed, ensuring the surface remains pristine and protected behind glass or acrylic.
Printing & Materials
Our Signature series is produced in collaboration with specialist fine-art printing partners using museum-grade 250 gsm archival giclée paper.
Each print is made to order with exceptional precision and colour accuracy, using pigment-based inks for long-term stability and rich tonal depth.
Prints are carefully rolled in acid-free tissue and shipped in rigid cardboard tubes to ensure they arrive in perfect condition, ready for framing.
All materials and processes are chosen for their longevity, texture, and fidelity to the original artwork, reflecting our commitment to quality and craft.
