Gizmo gathers illustrations adapted from and inspired by founder Simon Tyler's forthcoming book Gizmo: The Retro-Tech We Loved and Lost, published by Laurence King in May 2026.
The collection celebrates the machines that shaped how we made music, took photographs, wrote code, and connected with the world - from the Moog Minimoog to the BBC Micro, the Roland TR-808 to the Canon XL1. Each illustration isolates the design details that made these objects iconic: the knurled dials, the worn key caps, the chunky buttons and honest engineering of an era when technology was built to be understood.
These aren't nostalgic sketches. Each piece is a carefully constructed technical illustration - clean linework, accurate proportions, and a restrained palette that lets the design speak. They reward the same close attention as a good blueprint.
Printed on 250gsm archival matte paper through our global print network, the Gizmo series captures the golden age of consumer electronics with the precision its subjects were designed with.
